About Us
A Little Magic's history: In 2007, the 501(c)(3) Love of Little Horses was created to provide services to underprivileged children and families at risk in the community, and to rescue and re-home minis in need.
In 2012, Judith Rennyson, in conjunction with the Love of Little Horses founder, formed the therapy team A Little Magic. They recognized a need in our community for outreach and education using their minis. As an owner herself, Judy experienced the benefits of being around these gentle little horses. Due to their insight, A Little Magic has been serving Culpeper and surrounding counties ever since.

What We Do
A Little Magic is a miniature horse therapy group that is part of Love of Little Horses, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization registered in Virginia.
A Little Magic therapy teams consist of trained and experienced handlers and their trained and registered miniature horses.
These teams, along with our trained volunteer helpers, have been providing animal-assisted therapeutic activities to nursing homes, rehabs, and senior centers in Culpeper, Orange, Warrenton, and Charlottesville since 2013 - but working with the special needs students in the Culpeper schools has become the mission that is closest to our hearts.
After several years of watching the students relate to the horses, seeing their smiles, and listening to the teachers' feedback, we have decided to offer our program to other school districts so that they too can experience the "magic" of our minis.

Testimonials
"If you are looking for the perfect hands-on experience for your preschool students or students with Disabilities then I highly recommend that you book a visit with the incredible volunteers and mini horses from 'A Little Magic'!
Our students were thrilled to be able to get up close and personal with a mini horse! Each student got to connect with a mini horse, learn their name, and help groom them - the students' giggles and smiles were a celebration of the joy they experienced! The volunteers did an excellent job in setting up for the outing and supported our staff and students throughout the experience. We at AGRES highly recommend a visit from A Little Magic!"

"I wanted to take a moment to say thanks to you and your volunteers for all your hard work, dedication, and kindness in teaching my special needs adult students horsemanship. It's always interesting to watch on that first visit, the mini-horses leading the new students all over the parking lot! All I could think was uh-oh! But, usually by the 3rd session, I can see the shift starting to happen. My adult students were listening and learning and correcting their mistakes! They stayed at it and on the 4th session, I was amazed. The students were no longer being led by the mini-horses - my students were leading!!
The confidence I could see in the adult students' faces was awesome! Those last few sessions were wonderful to watch as they just paraded those horses all over the parking lot and through all sorts of obstacles with such pride. I truly believe the confidence that they took away from this class will help them out on the jobsites and/or jobs in knowing that they are ABLE to do anything they set their minds to! Again, thanks so much for giving such a wonderful opportunity to my adult students - you and your volunteers are an outstanding group to work with!!"

Why use a Little Magic for your Students?
What are the benefits for the children who participate in A Little Magic programs?
Non-judgmental acceptance and affection from our little therapy horses allows a child to relax and focus on the tasks presented. Many teachers comment on their students' unusually calm demeanor around the horses.
A trusting relationship develops with our miniature horses. Their small size provides a non-threatening experience for even the smallest child, and those who use wheelchairs and walkers.
Self-confidence and increased independence as the child interacts with the horses by grooming, handling, and leading. This attitude carries over to school, family and social settings.
A feeling of accomplishment, especially when allowed to lead the horse that they have been working with on a simple obstacle course or game. This is empowering!
Activities that promote both small and large muscle development, verbalization, and imagination.
